SCHOOL HISTORY

The school was founded in 1960 in the then-owner’s house in Westville Road, Ilkley, in order to provide a first-class education for children aged three to eleven.

The school site is a vibrant place and there have been many new developments under the guidance of the previous head, Mr Charles Holloway. In 2003, a new, full-sized multi-purpose hall was built which is extremely versatile and affords many tremendous opportunities for all the children. Soon afterwards a newly-refurbished Nursery was opened to give the youngest members of the school the best possible start. Two new Adventure playgrounds catering for both the older and younger children have been built.  Indeed there are many other exciting projects ‘in the pipeline’.

These projects have run alongside the School’s establishment and growth as a leading Preparatory School recognised both locally and nationally with its inclusion in ‘The Good Schools Guide’ as well as the Sunday Times ‘Top Preparatory School’ List.

All this reflects the school’s continued commitment to its original ethos of a first class education for its children in a friendly and caring environment where the children gain confidence, achieve success and are prepared for life in the 21st century.
