RECEPTION CLASS 4 – 5 years

Following their Nursery Year, children begin their full-time education at WHS in the Reception Class. They continue to follow the Early Years’ Foundation Curriculum, with activities matched to their individual needs and requirements. The children’s learning continues through structured play with activities based around the six areas of the Foundation Curriculum. They use our Outdoor Area as well as the classroom to develop the skills needed in Key Stage 1.

At the end of the Foundation Stage a profile is completed for each child. This is a summary of their achievements and provides an important record for parents and the next teacher. Continuity and progression are important to ensure a smooth transition from the Foundation Stage to Key Stage 1.

Once again, Before and After School Care is available from 8.00 am right up to 6.00 pm.
