*Please remember when reading the above tables that Level 4 is
the nationally expected level for 11 year old children*

As you read this table of results, you will note that Westville House has:
  • outperformed maintained (state) schools at Level 4 by a large margin
  • outperformed many other IAPS schools at the same level
  • outperformed maintained schools at Level 5 by a very impressive margin
  • performed broadly in line with many IAPS schools at Level 5

The children in last year’s Form 4 deserve the warmest congratulations for their hard work and for these wonderful achievements - and, of course, it is important to remember that we are not a selective school and that we cater for children with a wide range of abilities, and these abilities vary between the different core subjects. It is worth mentioning that this particular cohort of pupils contained our highest percentage ever of Dyslexic children. It was a magnificent achievement, therefore, that they obtained 100% level 4 in English, and we are particularly proud of them.

The results are, of course, a cumulative outcome of eight years of excellent teaching by all members of staff at Westville House and my thanks and congratulations go to all our teachers for their hard work and dedication. It is fair to say that you can all be very confident in the education your children receive at Westville House.

It is important to remember, however, that these results are only part of the story about WHS. Excellent education includes far more than the basic skills measured by the national tests. Children at WHS achieve these super results alongside many other high quality activities - art, drama, music and sport - which enrich their lives - and ours! - enormously. It is worth remembering that many schools are only able to undertake such activities on an occasional basis, if at all. Here at Westville they are integral parts of school life. You, our parents, can be confident that your children are receiving an all-round education of the very highest quality here.

Along with all the staff at Westville House, I am grateful to you for all the tremendous support you give at school at all times.

Yours sincerely

Charles Holloway
Headmaster
