Eco Schools
The Eco Schools programme touches every member of the school community – pupils, parents, staff and governors. We aim to be eco friendly and environmentally aware not only within our own local environment but also globally.
We are all very excited to have achieved the Green Flag Award. We have raised money to fund our projects in a variety of ways – recycling jewellery, a penny line challenge, collecting Morrison vouchers and by obtaining a grant through Encams.
Recent projects include setting up a wormery, selling eco friendly shopping bags and insulating our loft.
Many thanks to Encams and Currys for a large grant to insulate our loft.
Flag Raising Ceremony
We had a wonderful day on Wednesday 7th October, when we were joined by the Eco-Team from the Froebelian School, Horsforth, for the raising of our newly-achieved Green Flag. After a special assembly, everyone gathered at the front of the school to see that flag being raised by our Guest of Honour, Mr David Hanson. Fittingly, the sun shone on the whole gathering. Well done to our Eco-Team of pupils, staff and parents.
In 2009 - 10 our Eco Schools initiative continued with an Oxfam collection, second hand book sale, and a low carbon day where families shared cars and thee were various lessons geared towards the theme. The older children enjoyed a lively debate on the effects on the environment. Our Eco Garden thrives and the children regularly plant, tend and harvest the produce.
