MATHS

Every child at Westville House is encouraged to enjoy Maths. The practical understanding, skills and concepts acquired already are built upon and practised regularly.  Tables are practised as a solid foundation for numerical work. In this way the children become increasingly confident and capable in the basics of the core curriculum. We further aim to develop their problem solving skills and encourage investigative minds. [Some of our Clubs such as Origami, Sudoku and Bridge are great for this].

Work is carefully planned and differentiated throughout Key Stage Two and tailored to each child’s ability, enabling their full potential to be achieved.  Pupils needing support receive it individually or in small groups.  More able Mathematicians can take part in competitions such as the Primary Maths Challenge. Last year our Team achieved particularly good results in this competition.
